Mere Mortals?

I went to a Burbank McDonalds today for my dose of preservatives and hot coffee. As I salivated up to the counter I saw a greater ugliness than I can remember since grade school.

There was an extremely large woman in line who ordered and left. The counter girl laughed at her in such a malicious way that it made me wonder just how far we ever do get from the playground. From laughing at those who are different from us and making fun. From inflicting the kind of scars that don't heal in most cases. From driving our fellow humans past their limits. If she heard or saw her detractor, I don't know.

All I know is I said nothing.

As the girl laughed and looked at me for my order and validation of the her reaction to the human she'd just seen, all I could do is to look away and get my money out. Maybe it was enough.

This coupled with the news that my young friend's amigo at Burbank High School has just hung himself makes for a pretty rough start to this day.

Will you please please pray for these things?

Will you try to make a difference in this world TODAY, NOW, FOREVER?

The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.

The reason for the rash of suicides in our schools is that we have taken the Lord Jesus Christ and prayer out.

It it up to us.

“There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.”
